Summer Garden Plants

Since the weather has been so lovely I thought that I would go outside and take some photographs in my garden. Taking pictures of plants is one area of photography that I quite enjoy and find easier than others. All of these are unedited and were taken using a Canon EOS 700D with an 18-55mm lens.

I love all the detail that's shown as well as the contrast. I also really like the different patterns and colours, making each plant unique.

Out of all the photographs this would have to be my favourite. I like the angle that I have taken it from and that there is a slight shadow. As well as this there is a high amount of detail and a range of colours that stand out and draw my eyes in. The focus also helps to make this a better image.

I think that the combination of colour and dry grass works well in the above images as it gives them a more interesting look and helps them to stand out better.

I wanted to try a super-close up photograph, despite not having a macro lens. So for this I used the manual focus, this meant that it would allow me to take the image. I think that this has worked well, and I would like to try it more in the future with different plants that use brighter colours and patterns.
